Water bodies
The water body structures within the nature park are divided into four large units:
- the Nahe River, flowing from southwest to northeast.
- three relatively large streams that flow through the Soonwald main crest from the northwest to the southeast and meet in the Nahe: Hahnenbach, Simmerbach/Kellenbach and Guldenbach.
- medium-sized streams flowing from the Hunsrück high crest watershed, either north to the Rhein-Hunsrück district or south (Gräfenbach, Ellerbach, Hoxbach) or north-east (Seibersbach and Dörrebach), indirectly via the Guldenbach in the district of Bad Kreuznach, into the Nahe.
- a large number of mostly untouched small to smallest streams that flow into the aforementioned water systems.
All these water categories are characterised by their closeness to nature and high biodiversity.
